Swiss Post and SIK sign framework agreement on IncaMail

At the beginning of January, Swiss Post signed a framework agreement on cooperation with the Swiss IT Conference (SIK) involving IncaMail. The secure e-mail service by Swiss Post meets the needs of SIK members who want to be able to send confidential data via a fully protected, verifiable digital channel. SIK is an inter-cantonal association of IT organisations from federal, cantonal and municipal public administrations all over Switzerland. For SIK, the agreement represents an important step towards meeting the rising demand for a high level of security when sending digital documents as well as the growing need for reliable products in support of eGovernment.

Swiss Post offers its secure IncaMail e-mail service to public administrations, business customers and private customers. The ability to send confidential data simply and securely meets modern requirements for increased online processing of administrative paperwork and communication with companies. In this field, eGovernment and eBusiness can use solutions such as IncaMail for applications including sending legal documents and pay slips, or SuisseID for identifying and authenticating users who can then be given secure access to business and payment processes.

SIK recommends IncaMail for public administrations

Given the rising demand for a high level of security in digital communication, and the growing need for eGovernment services, the quality and reliability of the products available play a decisive role. The Swiss IT Conference (SIK) gives public administrations advice on choosing and purchasing appropriate solutions. It represents the interests of IT organisations from federal, cantonal and municipal public administrations as well as public institutions and companies which are at least 50 percent publicly owned. SIK helps institutions choose suitable solutions and products by issuing recommendations, defining standards and reducing procurement costs for its members. IncaMail is one of its latest recommendations. On 4 January 2013, Swiss Post and SIK signed a framework agreement on supplying IncaMail to SIK members. An equivalent agreement for Post SuisseID and security certificates developed by Swiss Post subsidiary SwissSign AG has been in place since 2012.

More and more authorities, courts and companies are opting for IncaMail

IncaMail is used in all sectors whose core business involves dealing with confidential information. Banks, insurance companies, consulting firms, the health industry, cantonal authorities and many courts and law firms now rely on the secure IncaMail e-mail service for the encryption and verifiable digital sending of their confidential data or documents with no temporary storage. The main IncaMail customers in eGovernment include the Zurich Commercial Registry Office, the Zurich Office for Military Affairs and Civil Protection, the cantonal tax authorities and the public unemployment insurance fund, both of the canton of Aargau, as well as the courts of the canton of Geneva.

Suitability of IncaMail officially confirmed

The secure IncaMail e-mail service is ISO 27001 certified and has been recognised as a secure delivery platform for electronic legal transactions within eGovernment by the Swiss Federal Department of Finance (FDF) for years. The FDF extended its approval at the end of December 2012. Company representatives can also verify the suitability of IncaMail for their digital communication needs. Anyone who is interested can carry out a risk test provided by Swiss Post to see just how secure and risk-free their communication by e-mail currently is: www.swisspost.ch/incamail-confidential.

Innovative products like IncaMail, the digital identity standard Post SuisseID and legally valid digital signature and security certificates are developed and operated on behalf of Swiss Post by its subsidiary SwissSign AG, which is part of the Swiss Post Solutions Group unit.
